Independent Social Work Matters

We do training, assessments of parenting capacity and risk, assessments of attachment, supervision and consultancy and video enhanced reflective practice (VERP).

Assessment of Parenting Capacity and Risk - child

Parenting and risk assessment

Our standard assessment provides a comprehensive history and understanding of how risky behaviours may, or may not, impact on parenting. We also provide global family assessments, assessing multiple parents or potential carers and children from 0 to 16 years of age.

Assessment of Attachment

We offer a range of developmentally sequenced assessments of attachment tied to the Dynamic Maturational Model of Attachment (DMM). Used to inform parenting and risk assessments and treatment.

Training

We offer standardised courses and bespoke training on a variety of subjects. For professionals that work with vulnerable children, and adults and their families.

Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP)

Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP) is is the professional application of Video Interaction Guidance (VIG). VERP uses the VIG approach specifically to increase effectiveness in interprofessional or professional-client communication. VERP is a strengths-based approach, where video of normal daily professional activity is micro-analysed with a focus on what the professional is doing well. This helps them to recognise their emergent strengths and build on them.

Consultancy and Supervison

We have a particular interest in supervision and staff development. We welcome the opportunity to help workers and teams find solutions to problems they are experiencing and recommend Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP) as an approach to resolve situations that appear stuck.
